How do I install the software on a tablet or laptop with no CD drive?

Many customers are switching to newer, lighter laptops and tablet devices that do not have a traditional CD-ROM drive. Congratulations!
We recommend that you run all of your Windows updates on your new device - keep checking for and running the updates until there are no more.  There can be a hundred of them! [Allow several hours to get them all done ... depends on your internet connection speed].

If your new laptop or tablet has a USB slot, here is what to do:

  1. Using a traditional laptop or desktop computer, put the software CD into the CD drive.
  2. Put the flash drive into a USB slot on that same machine.
  3. Create a new folder called SkillTRAN on the USB drive.
  4. Copy the entire contents of the CD drive to the USB drive folder called SkillTRAN.
  5. Eject the USB drive when all the copying is completed.  Put the CD away again in a safe place.
  6. On your new laptop/tablet, insert the flash drive.
  7. Using Windows Explorer/File Explorer, navigate to the SkillTRAN folder on the USB drive.
  8. Run the setup.exe program from the flash drive to install our software onto your new device.
  9. Test the software to assure proper functioning.
  10. Connect to the internet and allow the vautoupdate or trueclientupdate programs to run so that your installation gets updated as needed*.
  11. Enjoy the software on your new device!

If your new laptop or tablet does not have a USB slot, here is what to do:

  1. Connect your device to the internet.
  2. Call SkillTRAN during our business hours (7-5pm Pacific Time - Weekdays) at (800) 827-2182
  3. Choose Support - Option 2.
  4. We will do a remote installation through the internet onto your new device*
  5. Enjoy the software on your new device!

* Requires current subscription to Maintenance and Support

We ALSO have completely web-based subscription services that don't care if you have a PC, Mac, iPad, or Android tablet! No installation at all!!!

Question: i have a tablet amzon i want to software in tablet

SkillTRAN Answer: An Amazon tablet is an Android-based operating system. We do not yet have software that will run in this native environment. But the tablet does have multiple web browsers available, any of which will work to access our online services, including OccuBrowse for the Web. You can sign up for a free trial. We have some features that were included specifically for users with touch-based screens.

SkillTRAN Response: Contact us directly. We can do both remote support and remote installation across the internet - for Windows, Android, and iOS tablets, Macs, and PCs. Not refrigerators. 800-827-2182 - Option 2 - Support.

Comment: Tablets don't have USB drives. Now what?

Minimum Tablet Requirements
SkillTRAN Response: The most important requirement is for the tablet to be running the Windows operating system (Windows 10, 8 or 8.1, or 7). Memory is important, particularly if you want to store pictures or video, but huge extra amounts are not necessary for Job Browser Pro. Windows Surface Pro is fine. Lenovo and others make tablet-like, "convertible" laptops that function in a variety of ways like a laptop or like a tablet. If you choose some other operating system, like Android or iOS, then Job Browser Pro will not work. Your alternative then would be to use a wifi connection and a subscription to our new web-based OccuBrowse. Details at the web site.

Question: I'm buying a new tablet that I want to install Job Browser pro on. Are there minimum system requirements the tablet must have to put job browser pro on. When I bought my last laptop Jeff walked me throuhg the system requirements I needed.
So wondering if there are still some basic system requirements for a tablet.
Thank you

Answer. Job Browser Pro is built to run on a Windows operating system, whether native or not. A Mac computer can run a windows emulator, or windows itself and then Job Browser Pro can run on it. An iPad runs the iOS operating system, which does not have the ability to run non-iOS environments. Eventually, we will re-write Job Browser Pro to run natively on many platforms, but this will be a little while down the road.

Q. Can Job Pro be installed on an iPad?
